Shihan Martin Rogers is one of the best known and highly respected teachers in
the martial arts world today. He is in constant demand to teach seminars in Canada, America, across Europe and around the globe. He is the chief instructor of the Solent Martial Arts Academies organization; one of the Portsmouth areas largest and most successful group of martial arts schools.
He has personally licensed and graduated more than 50 black belts and heads instruction for more than 1000 active members in the Zen Ha Kenpo Ryu Jujitsu system. His vast knowledge of Jujitsu and teaching skills has earned him a reputation as one of the best instructors in his field, but Martin still
considers himself a student of martial arts and has trained with many masters around the world
seeking out more knowledge to pass on to instructors and students in his schools; keeping them at the top of the tree. He has trained over 12 gold Medallist National and International Champions and many winners in other medal categories.
Sensei Rogers started his martial arts career way back in the early 60’s in Judo and Jujitsu, with a great instructor W.D. Heffer 8th Dan, Sensei enjoyed his training here as a boy training was hard and fun, he stayed here until 15 training for 10 yrs Obtaining his Shodan and then going into the armed forces, joining his units
judo team and competing for his Regiment making his way into the finals, here his eyes were opened to real hand to hand combat, tactical knife fighting and much more, in his judo he trained with the then British Army
heavy weight champion and Army team coach, he was award his Regimental colours (the Red Devil) for his success in competition.
Rogers Sensei travelled around quite a bit in his time in the forces and always tried to find a dojo to train at where ever he was stationed learning and picking up new skills from the many sensei’s he met, after leaving the forces Sensei went back to his old school with sensei Heffer and trained with him and his Son for some time obtaining a Dan grade with his son in his Style of Kempo Jujitsu, but was very unsatisfied with this, after
the training he had done and seen whilst in the forces, Sensei again started to look around, he found Soke Brian Dossett 10th Dan and trained here for a while being graded by Soke.
Whilst with Soke Dossett sensei met a Grandmaster Richard Stevens who was a terrific martial artist, Sensei trained and graded with Sensei Stevens, but he was still seeking something more he then came across Sensei Prof Terry Parker of Jikishin Jujitsu and Joined his Group and Trained with sensei Parker for some time, with sensei Parker grading and ratifying sensei Rogers to 3rd Dan, martin enjoyed his training with Prof Parker, not only a great Instructor but the whole of Jikishin is like one big family and whenever you attend a seminar or course everyone makes you feel so welcome, and Sensei Parker has always been Martin’s favourite Instructor and also Friend and the one he has enjoyed learning and training under the most and is still to this day, but for some unknown reason sensei went back to sensei Stevens and continued to grade with him, but from here he then went on walk about searching out and travelling to met other instructors seeking more knowledge here and abroad and he has met some great Instructor’s / sensei’s along the way whilst on these travels sensei met a Soke Robert Bugh 10th Dan
Soke Bugh, is sensei’s next Favourite Sensei and close friend, alongside Prof Parker, training again with him is very enjoyable, sensei has travelled to Arizona and also had sensei Bugh come to the UK so he and his student’s can train with him, sensei Rogers has trained and graded under Soke Bugh, Soke Bugh is a very knowledgeable Sensei and has an Impeccable Lineage having trained under and graded by Hohan Soken and supreme Master Fusei Kise and also Tohei Sensei of Aikido, as does Prof Terry Parker and this is what sensei Rogers had been seeking out, so he could offer his students
not only great training but an impeccable lineage, Sensei Rogers realised his error and went back to sensei Parker knowing this was where he should have always stayed, sensei Rogers is still with Sensei’s Prof Terry Parker and Soke Bugh to this very day and these are two of the finest sensei’s Instructor’s and friends he has come across on his travels and martial arts training, Local Police and military train with and he group runs classes on the military bases teaching Navy and Marines hand to hand combat.

On His travel’s sensei has met and trained under some great Teachers. Here are some to name a few:
